Who We Are
Rooted in Finnish Lapland, shaped by a slower way of living.
Who We Are
-
Polar Tranquil is a small Arctic hosting company based in Levi, Finnish Lapland.
We are Noora and Sebastian - professional guides who have spent years working across the Arctic and Antarctica, and who are now building something more grounded here in the North.
Our work has taken us to remote landscapes and extraordinary places, but over time our vision has become increasingly clear: to create a more personal, thoughtful, and place-based way to experience Lapland.
-
Polar Tranquil is rooted in Leppäniemi, just outside Levi, on family land that has been part of Noora’s life for decades.
The cabins are not a new development built for trend or volume. They are part of a real place with history, continuity, and personal meaning. Rather than starting from scratch, we are slowly and carefully shaping what already exists - with respect for the landscape, the character of the place, and the kind of experience we want to offer our guests.
For us, this is more than a business location. This is our home.
That matters in how we host, how we guide, and how we imagine the future of Polar Tranquil.

Noora
Noora is from Levi, Finnish Lapland, and has worked as a guide since 2014.
She began with snowmobile guiding and group hosting in her home region before moving to Longyearbyen, Svalbard, in 2019. There she began working on boats, which led her into expedition cruising and kayak guiding in both the Arctic and Antarctica.
Over the years, Noora has built extensive experience guiding in remote environments and working closely with guests in some of the world’s most demanding and inspiring landscapes. She is known for her calm presence, strong sense of responsibility, and ability to make people feel safe and genuinely welcome.

Sebastian
Sebastian is originally from Santiago, Chile, with roots in southern Chile, and began guiding in the expedition cruise industry in 2018.
Before that, he trained and worked as an architect, with experience in places including Tierra del Fuego, Melbourne, Barcelona, and Tanzania. His background brings both creativity and structure to the way we design experiences.
Since moving into guiding, Sebastian has worked across the southern Patagonian fjords, Cape Horn, Antarctica, Svalbard, Greenland, Nunavut, and Baffin Island. He brings quiet attentiveness, cultural curiosity, and a deep respect for both landscapes and people.

Why We Created Polar Tranquil
After years of working in the travel industry, we both felt a growing need to create something of our own - something smaller, more personal, and more rooted in real place.
Tourism in Lapland is growing quickly, but growth alone does not always create better experiences. We believe there is value in slowing things down, staying longer in one place, and being hosted by people who know the region deeply and care about it for the long term.
Polar Tranquil is our way of building that kind of alternative.
Through our cabins, hosted stays, and custom experiences, we want to offer something more grounded than mass tourism and more personal than standard accommodation. A stay here is not only about where you sleep, but about how you experience the North.
-
We are building Polar Tranquil slowly and intentionally.
Our hope is to create experiences that feel calm, honest, and deeply connected to place - for guests who value depth over volume, and for those who want to experience Lapland in a more meaningful way.
Welcome to our corner of the North.
